+++
This is a simple but beautiful book, which can have tremendous psychological impact on its readers.
“Ferdinand Discovers The World” explores a child’s view on nature, his social environment, and his family. The language is straightforward, but very strong.
The book doesn’t have patronazing view, as the author is able to enter the child’s mind and unveil the hidden perspectibe of the child.
However, the gaze of the adult writer has a psychological and sociological distance. Marina breaks through that boundary elegantly and briliantly, so that the text represents the voice of the child who has his own mind and world. Sometimes naughty, sometimes unexpected, you cannot help but identify with Ferdinand.
The sensitively-written book is also enhanced throughout with wonderful ilustrations.
